Struggle

Struggle is what you do. You seek no longer for life to be a struggle. Life, however, has this annoying habit of seeming to do what it wants to do and not what you want it to do. Almost as if Life was alive itself! And so my friends I ask you this, and I ask you to pause for a moment in your reading and seek an answer within – what is it that your struggle gives you?

It gives you something; else you would not do it.

If struggle gave you nothing, you would simply give up the struggle. I can feel your disagreement. ‘If it was that easy to give it up, do you think I’d still be doing it’, ‘If I didn’t struggle, then where would I end up?’, ‘I didn’t ask for life to be a struggle, I just find myself struggling’. Let me suggest some benefits. Perhaps a sense of self-importance, a feeling of achievement when difficulties are overcome; a sense of self-sacrifice that will ensure you a place in heaven. Don’t forget, God is watching and taking notes. Suffering experienced now, will be deducted from that to be experienced in Purgatory. Perhaps parents or teachers extolled that value of struggle ‘spare the rod, spoil the child’ and so struggle equates to goodness. Those who have an easy life wouldn’t be able to survive without all that money, maybe. My friends/family are struggling, I will lose them if my life is an easy one and then I might be alone in the world. You see, you seek, and you do find. If you seek reasons, you will find answers.

So what you will be wanting to know is how do I release the struggle and still retain the gifts it brings. You release the struggle by allowing, by inviting, by welcoming into your awareness the reasons and the gifts that struggling brings to you. When these emerge into your consciousness you must then allow them to reside there awhile, honour them and do not reject them out of hand, no matter how crazy or inappropriate they may seem. Then, and only then, will you be in a position to evaluate. If the price is too high, then your struggle will become easier and life will become pleasurable. If the price is worth paying, then again your life will become easier because your struggle has become a conscious choice, an acceptance, not an imposition by one who is unaware of your beauty and deservedness of the good things in life.

Consider, with the idea of how difficult life seems to be for you in mind, that there is nothing within your experience that is unrelated to your view of life/God/and the planet you inhabit. Consider that everything within your experience is an opportunity for you to look at you and decide whether you like what you find, or not. If you do not like then it is simply an opportunity either for you to change your mind about you, or simply to change you.

Now if you believe that you are what you are, perhaps even the consequence of your DNA and it’s reactions to its environment, then you will be unable to change. Unable to change that is unless there is a tiny spark of open-mindedness in you that permits you to change your mind when presented with interesting new ideas about you. Those of you who are fortunate enough not to be saddled with beliefs about your immutability will have some fun looking at what life is reflecting back to you of you. This is your task, until next time, observe, and note how your world reflects back to you, aspects of you that you were unaware of until you looked.

With Love,
Himal
